Don’t put on hold the interviews. Finalise your teams NOW!

by George Lyras, HR Account Manager & Recruiter | Workathlon

The unexpected happened. The unforeseen occurred. Instead of opening the hotels for the summer season, all hotels in our country are currently shut.

And all employers and employees stay home. All with worries and concerns.

One morning, we will wake up from this nightmare and all engines will start over again abruptly. If the engines are not maintained in the meantime, then we will face other operating issues again.

We know that a hotel is a living creature even during its closing period. It needs preparations and maintenance all the time.

The recruiting phase if not completed, has to keep going and finalize really soon. This will give a feeling of encouragement to people but at the same time, one of your major tasks will have been completed.

Starting period is probably unknown and you may feel awkward not announcing a starting date. But everyone can understand.

It is not up to you to decide right now. But on the other hand, you give hope and happiness to your future teams and they cannot appreciate you more as a company. Why? Because a friend in need is a friend indeed. And your actions as a company still in motion will create the belief that you are trustworthy, strong, and in constant development.

The recruiting procedure is long. Take advantage of every single moment now. Everyone is available to give an interview now and everyone is available to give your references. So, the steps will be completed in a shorter period of time. And the winner will be you.

  1. Advertise your vacancies, giving hope that things have not frozen,

  2. Register as an employer to the job portal of Workathlon and start your research for talents (the green button at the end will get you there),

  3. Come in contact with candidates, keeping them ambitious for their next career steps,

  4. Shake hands with the successful candidates and make the hotel industry prove once more that it keeps being one of the most fast-growing industries in the world.

Remember: A rolling stone gathers no moss.
